Kerry Leigh has been playing drums since the ripe old age of 12. Since he didn't have a band he had to be content just to play with himself. Self-taught, with the help of couch pillows, his mothers knitting needles, and a worn out version of KISS ALIVE, he decided that he HAD to follow in the footsteps of his heroes, only without the make-up. Then of course the 80's came and the "no make-up" philosophy flew right out the window, but thats another story.
After playing for many years in the Detroit/Flint bar circuit he hooked up with a band called "Shirts and Skins" in 1996. Soon after, the band landed a record deal w/ Pioneer Music Group and released an album on the Atlantic label. After changing their name to "Full On The Mouth", they spent the next 2 years on the road with national acts such as Seven Mary Three, Jackyl, Creed, Dream Theater and many more. With a video on MTV, 2 songs on Sony Playstations "Road Rash 3D" and a national tour, Kerry thought he had reached his dreams. Unfortunately, during a stint on the VANS Warped Tour in 1998 ( where Kerry lost his perdiem on a daily basis gambling w/ the guitarist of the Deftones,) Pioneer decided that the record business was not for them and pulled out of the deal. This was further complicated by the fact that the band was in Idaho at the time and had to "play their way home" to pay the road crew, buy gas, and survive on the 7 cases of "yoohoo" chocolate drink swiped from the Sevendust tour bus. All of this strife left a bad taste in Kerrys mouth, not unlike that of a groupie he met in Wisconsin. He stopped playing for many years until he was given a clean bill of health. His next musical adventure came when he hooked up with what eventually became In The Red. Now that the pressure is off and the scars have healed, he finds that playing music is more enjoyable than ever before. At presstime, Kerry plans on playing until he doesn't want to anymore.
